I believe that apple does not participate as an official company presence; that is, noone that I know of is designated as an official spokesperson or liaison on comp.sys.mac (or other apple-related news groups), but apple people very definitely review and comment on information posted to those groups. For example, Larry Rosenstein who knows a lot about MacApp, often comments on MacApp-related issues, and Andrew Shalit, who is rather well-acquainted with Macintosh Common Lisp, often comments on Lisp-related issues.
