Lines: 31 Nntp-Posting-Host: norman I have a question for the Novell admins out there.... Does anyone make a 8mm tape backup system for novell that supports the soon to be available Exabyte 8500 which stores 5g on each tape? Is anyone working on it? We currently are using the Emerald Systems EmSave system. Has anyone else noticed that they are selling Exabyte 2.5 g drives that list for about $2500 for $5000? When we asked them about it, they got pretty defensive. They also claim that if you don't use their tapes, they won't be responsible for the results. They sell the same TDK's I buy for <$10 for closer to $50. I have always felt they are being a bit greedy. The real problem we have is that it takes about 18 hours to backup 4gigabytes. They have told us that this is normal. Our Suns back up to a generic Exabyte at about 1g/hour, so I am a bit surprised that it takes Novell 4.5hours/gig. Especially since we only paid half as much for the drive on the Suns. ;-) Does anyone have a solution to 8mm tape backup on Novell that they really like? I would love to hear about it. -- Thomas M.
