You should be able to do better than that. Use QuarterDeck's LOADHI program
and NET4 rather than XMSNET4; that way you only have one EMS manager.

I use QEMM with LOADHI, and have COUNTRY.SYS, FILES, OX.SYS, SHARE, SMARTDRV,
RAMDRIVE, IPX, NET4 and KEY102 in EMS memory. That gives me 560K of memory
*from inside Windows 3*, and well over 580 outside it, using 4DOS.

I consider replacing COMMAND.COM with 4DOS to be an essential compatible
upgrade, rather than a difficult solution. :-)
