The popup code under the current version of 4sight required expensive communications with NeWS.  Under the 4.0 version of IRIX, the communication goes quite a bit faster, and for popup's, should have no appreciable delays during their construction.  Since your case is somewhat extreme, you may notice some delay, but the net effect of IRIX 4.0 should be a large improvement.
