Keywords: ftp xenix file transfer Message-ID: <1172@bcs800.UUCP> Date: 23 Jan 91 00:16:17 GMT Organization: Brock Control Systems, Atlanta, Georgia Lines: 26 Does anyone know how to use the xenix 'ftp'? It's kinda puzzling though. The reason for asking is that I've just re-installed my altos 486 (xenix 3.1as0) and found an executable in /usr/bin called 'ftp'. I've used ftp on other machines for file transfer, but i'm still not sure why it would be on the altos distribution diskettes; it's strange that this machine would definately be called bare-bones by just about any standard (just the run-time ;-( ) but why in the world would it have ftp if it couldn't be used on a regular basis by most of the users. Is there something I'm missing about this machine? Does it have something to do with /xenix.net ? if I try ftp I get something like: usage: ftp speed device send_filename | receive_filename hmmmm...any ideas?? thanks! jeffs -- Jeff Smith | #include Brock Control Systems | uucp: ...!gatech!emory!bcs800!jeffs Technical Support | bitnet: hadadax@gsuvm1.bitnet | jiffy: length of time it takes me to solve tel: +800 444 3070 | your problem by killing your process.
