I suggest that you build X11R4 from MIT sources, using my patches (see ./contrib/ibm-rs6000.fix1 on expo.lcs.mit.edu). Then use the MIT xterm. This version of xterm displays on any machine running an X11R4 or an X11R3 server. Unfortunately, it doesn't have natural language support, but you're in Kansas, so this shouldn't matter to you.
