If this request has been posted before, I apologize. However, I still would like an answer. Thanks in advance. What I need to know is (wait for it...): Using X11R4 on a Sun 3/50 or SPARC IPC (not using OPEN LOOK, Motif ...) 1) How do I create new fonts. I would like to be able to take current fonts, display them multiply in an X window (in similar positions to get outline effect and shadows) and then using bitmaps create a font from these. Failing this, I'll create them by hand. 2) How do I persuade X to use these new font (if I ever manage to create any). 3) How does an X program get the information on how the characters are made up. What I want is to be able to treat a character already defined as a "bitmap" and to be able to read the character data. As I said, I know nothing much about fonts. Cheers Martin. Post to comp.windows.x and/or ms2@uk.ic.ac.doc. I'm sure there's other who want to know this sort of info. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- | | /\ /---\ | Martin A.
