has anyone ever tried to get hold of the abovementioned from manufacturers, 
e.g. national semiconductor's linear products databook and applications, 
discrete products etc.?  i'm an engineering student and i find these 
references to be invaluable when i can borrow them, but i don't know how to 
go about obtaining my own copies. 

specifically, i'd like to know names, addresses, and phone #'s of whom to 
contact in order to procure these.  i'm interested in any and all 
manufacturers; might as well build my library while i'm young and vigorous ;) 

please email and i'll post a summary of all the info i get.
