I have a job to predict the state of various flavors of expert
systems in the year 2000.  These include expert systems for
maintenance and for decision support as well as expert systems
for adaptive user interfaces.  I would welcome suggestions as
to where to start my search.  I believe that past is indeed
prologue and, therefore, descriptions of the previous growth of
coverage and speed of expert systems would be very useful.
Wild ideas are also welcome.
