If you're into multiplayer games running over the net, this is definitely for you. The game is a multiple- player wargame played in real time over the Internet; you can play against people anywhere on the net, and it's a very easy game to learn. If you can contact a MUD, and the package will build on your computer, then you should be able to learn BT. Typical games last 5-60 minutes, dependent on the number of players (up to six). A robot player is included to give you an opponent when you can't find human players, and if you wish you can hack it freely to develop a better robot for us all to do battle with. To get the game, ftp to belch.berkeley.edu (thanks for letting it live there, guys, I appreciate it). It's in the bt subdirectory, compressed, tarred and uuencoded in the usual manner. It's also coming out in comp.sources.games again soon. Want opponents? I'm starting a contact service. Mail me at boutell@freezer.it.udel.edu. NEW FEATURES OF VERSION 1.10: - A viable robot player is included. - Compatible with many more machines. - Even easier on the processor. (BT is very careful to avoid loading it down.) - The famous action point bugs are fixed! - Much more reliable server. It can recover from client crashes well now. - Smoother battles; each unit fights as five. - Battles are flashed to draw attention to the action. Have fun, and PLEASE contact me with any questions, problems, or just plain requests to play! I'm always up for a game, and I said, it works fine over the internet. Let's get a league going! -- THE TECHNOLOGY HOUSE: An idea whose time has come! Call Burger King at 1-800-YES-1-800 and request a vegetarian entree! Mass/ energy cannot be created or destroyed. It *can*, however, be wasted. boutell@freezer.it.udel.edu
