The deadline for titles and abstracts, which may be sent by email, is February 22. Abstracts will be reviewed and notification of acceptance will be made prior to April 1. After abstract review, participants will be required to submit a camera ready paper to appear in the conference proceedings. Representation Aiding is the strategy of enhancing learning and performance through the design of effective external representations of a task or problem domain. In many cases the goal is to shift processing burdens away from effortful and error-prone cognitive activities and toward more efficient perceptual activities. In other cases the goal may be problem structuring to enhance insight, or to enhance the operator's ability to bring conceptual knowledge to bear on a problem. Typical application areas include display design for dynamic system interfaces, diagram design for instructional material, and the design of graphical interfaces to facilitate human- computer interaction. Papers on theoretical issues, design methodologies, empirical studies, and applications are all appropriate. Please send titles and abstracts to me via email or to the mailing address below. Please contact me with any questions you might have concerning the session.
