Hi.  There is an RFC, 1131, which documented Version 1 of the protocol.  Version
2 is what all the vendors have/are implementing.  It is currently an IETF
draft, and available from the NIC (nic.ddn.mil internet-drafts directory)
or the NSF NNSC (nnsc.nsf.net ietf-drafts directory).  This spec is only
available in postscript due to the graphics required.  Version 2 includes 
some bug fixes and some minor performance enhancements based on the experience
of those who deployed V1 in operational networks.

Current experience is based on several real world network users, like NASA's
NSI (that's what I work on), BARRNET, OARNet, etc...)

There are several mail aliases for implementers and users.  One is ospf@trantor.umd.edu, and the other for experience and testing is ospf-tests@seka.cso.uiuc.edu.  To get added, send mail to the -requests
version of the above mail addresses.  I don't know if archives are available.

There was testing done in Janurary between a number of vendors.  The next round
of serious implementation testing will be done at 3com in Santa Clara, CA
next week.  Call Dino Farinucci @ 3com for an invite.  Proteon, Wellfleet, 
3com, ACC will all be there and be performing tests including some to make
sure the implementations behave properly dealing with a number of oddball
configurations.  Proteon is shipping now, and the rest will be shipping shortly.
