  Many of our IEEE 802.3 transceivers can be configured with
the SQE (heartbeat) test on/off. For non-repeating devices, we
configure the transcever with the test on.

  What would be the consequence of configuring non-repeating
devices with SQE test off? What is supposed to happen when the
test fails?
