Well, I did question it (this was in Va, 1986). They then provided me with a written document specifying the statute, and another paragraph which stated that it was lawful. They then said if I didn't wish to provide it, I didn't have to, but could I please step out of the way so that they could process the next person in line. And this is the basic problem. Sure, I could have left and gotten a lawyer, etc. but five years later it would still be tied up in court, and I don't have the time or money for that. >>The law only affects Federal Agencies I believe. >And state. Well, I was a Federal Employee, so I am aware of the Privacy Act, which is only relevant to Federal Agencies.
