This is not a good idea.  True Unix crypt(3) is not quite DES (hence you can't
use fast hardware DES chips to crack passwords).  And there is no real need
for the passwords to use the standard Unix crypt() anyway.  If you are really
keen on security, why not use snefru as posted to comp.sources.unix last March
(v21i019 .. v21i022) [but note that the 2-iteration version has been broken].

Nah, who wants VT100.  Make it full ANSI X3.64 (from memory) support.
