Greetings!

I am looking for references (or better yet first-hand info) about driving
MFM, ESDI  and IDE drives at the hardware (below-the-BIOS) level. If any one
reading this posting has done any work in this area, I would appreciate any
pointers in print or otherwise you could afford me.

(I exclude SCSI because I have a good reference on this)

I have a copy of the "IBM PC-AT Technical Reference Guide", which talks a
little about the register structure of an MFM controller, but it does not
go into _quite_ enough detail for me to figure out how to make it go.

I would like:

	pointers to books
	pointers to articles (archived)
	the articles themselves
	or source code (;-))

OR anything else you may have that you think would be helpful.
