They were shut down by Apple's legal department (with a little help from the courts). This helped the clone companies copy IBM's design by setting the limits on what is pirating and what is compatible. The projects listed are outright piracy and nothing to be proud of, even the technical expertise required is not much, anyone can wire wrap a circuit from a schematic. Maybe finding an equivalent part might take some work, but nonetheless not difficult. If you want to do something useful, how about a 640x480 resolution video card?
