Message-ID: <1991Feb4.124413.2874@newsserv.informatik.tu-muenchen.de> Date: 4 Feb 91 12:44:13 GMT Sender: news@newsserv.informatik.tu-muenchen.de Organization: Technische Universitaet Muenchen, Germany Lines: 14 Does anyone know if there exist 16-bit mono graphics/printer cards (i.e. Herccules compatible cards with 16-bit connector). Many people (including me) use such (8-bit) cards as debug screens together with VGA or SVGA cards. Unfortunately, these 8-bit cards cause the VGA/SVGA cards to switch to 8-bit mode too, even very sophisticated boards. This is because of the design of the ISA bus, when two cards with different width use a common 128k segment in the address space (here it is A000-BFFF). This causes performance of the VGA/SVGA to slow down a lot. Therefore, I would like to know if there are 16-bit Hercules cards available on the market. Thanks for any hint, Kai Uwe Rommel
