Hoang) Distribution: usa Organization: Brown University Department of Computer Science Lines: 20 I have a Miniscribe 3065 40MB disk drive and WD1003-WA2 controller. The drive has been working fine since July 1988, until now. The computer will not boot from the hard drive and comes up a hard disk failure error. This occurred before, but a reseating of the controller card fixed the problem. But nothing works now. I ran the DIAG program of the Disk Manager package to test the drive and controller. The controller and seek tests pass, but the random read test fails with a DISK NOT INITIALIZED error. The diag program suggests to reseat the controller, if that fails, it says that either the controller or the disk drive is defective. How can I tell for sure whether the problem is with the disk drive or with the controller? I don't have extra drives or controllers to swap. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
