Catchword is pretty good sometimes, if the text is clear (e.g., a typeset book) but not very good on messy texts (e.g., newspaper). It seems to have some bugs -- it lets you change a character model (e.g., it lets you look at everything it thought was an "S", and you can tell it "No that one is a "5"") but it gets very stubborn about "1", "l", and "I" -- even after you tell it "That's a "1"" it keeps it as an "I". I bought mine on an impulse, but it did save me some time keying in a program from a textbook. Please let me know if you hear of any other (cheap) compatible OCR software. Thanks. -- Paul ======================================= Paul G. Howard pgh@cs.brown.edu Brown University (401) 863-7672 Computer Science Dept.
