According to the interrupt documentation, the interrupt 0x10 called with ax=0x100 and cx=0x2000 should turn the cursor off. That works nicely. The problem is to turn it on again. Setting the cursor shape, using the same interrupt with cx=0xE0F works on some systems, while it does not on others. All the computers I have tested, which use EGA boards seem to have this problem. The only way to get the cursor back is to reboot the system. :-( Any ideas?
