I am looking into getting a scanner.  I need the ability to get 256 shades of
gray if not 8-bit color out of it.  The resolution has to be good, etc etc etc.
Which scanner would you recommend?  How much does it cost?  What is a good
scanner for the money?

Again, this is for a member of the Mac II family.
