Message-ID: <1108@unixhub.SLAC.Stanford.EDU> Date: 30 Jan 91 19:56:38 GMT Sender: news@unixhub.SLAC.Stanford.EDU Organization: Stanford Linear Accelerator Center Lines: 15 Nntp-Posting-Host: 134.79.17.183 I have been happily using CDTech portadrive (CD-ROM) and APS Syquest 45Mb removable drive on IIci with 5 Mb memory installed (system 6.0.7). A couple of weeks ago I installed additional 4Mb memory (so 8Mb in total now). It looks as if since then I cannot make the IIci recognize both the CDTech and APS 45R _simultaneously_ on the SCSI chain. If I connect the cable only to the CDTech, that works fine. If I connect only to the APS 45R, that works fine, too. However, if I daisy-chain both CDTech and APS 45R, only the APS 45R shows up (I am using SCSI Probe 2.0.3 to "diagnose" the thing...) I never came across this problem when I was with 5Mb memory. So, could it be related to some subtleties of IIci's handling 8 Mb memory space? Or should I suspect that something got busted in the SCSI-SCSI cable without reporting it to me? Or one of the SCSI connectors went bad on CDTech or APS 45R ??? Is there any INITs kind of stuff that are known to cause this type of problems???
