Giffer, the viewer I use, lets you open any file as long as it's a true GIF file. With the other viewers, you may have to do some type/creator changes. For GIF files that someone mails you (or posts to the nets): they usually come uuencoded. UUdecode them on your Unix machine (but strip the header first in your text editor), and then kermit them (again, in binary mode) to your Mac, and so on. Hope this helps.
