(Like Word opening a MacWrite document) I think I would like it if, when an orphan document is opened, Finder presents the user with a list of applications that are on mounted disks and mention that document type in their bundles. The user selects the desired application and Finder tells it to open the document. Clearly, if the real application later shows up, Finder should ask *it* to open the document. A nice aditional feature would be if Finder remembered what foster application was chosen last time and moved it to the head of the list, selected, and waiting for a Return or Enter to continue.
