Well I have been using xv to display gifs, but if I want to save a GIF in a bitmap format so I can put that picture in my root window, xv only saves Black and White bitmaps. I thought it was possible to display color bitmaps in X. If so are there file conversion utilities for GIF to bitmap, for color? Are there clients that can do this? I would appreciate responses directly to me instead of posting to the news group. I don't read the newsgroup. Thank you, Rich
