Yes, "bibcard" runs under X. It allows browsing/editing of BibTeX bibliographies. Has bugs. If you use BibTeX, addbib-tex (I think it comes with the LaTeX distribution) will allow you to add/edit a BibTeX database interactively. In addition, if perl is installed on your system, I VERY HIGHLY RECOMMEND a perl script called "lookbibtex" which can query BibTeX databases and extract complete entries. lokbibtex is available with the other scripts in the perl distribution.
