Hi Louis,

I too go for the idea of 8 dot braille. Don't have a lot to say
about it, just thought I'd let you know how I feel.

I've used a VersaBraille-like unit which had 8 dot braille.  It
took some getting used to, but I'm pretty sure it'd work fine.
