This appears to lead to judgmental thinking - I'm right your wrong or I'm better than you so I don't have to listen to you leading to arguements and wars. A view in which we all see ourselves as one on the other hand would lead to a view that in Unity to hurt others is to inflict a wound into our own divine soul which is shared by all. This may be oversimplified and is just a spur of the moment thought, but seems potentially valid to understand the spiritual motives driving both sides of this war.
