Could everyone please stop flaming each other about what Unix does or doesn't have? Or take it somewhere else, like comp.os.misc? It's bad enough when the discussion gets off the newsgroup charter; it's worse when it descends to personal attacks. The recent case of someone complaining about Unix's lack of "asynchronous I/O" is ridiculous. The first poster was evidently thinking of starting I/O requests in the background, and the first respondent (probably from a microcomputer background) was thinking of serial port I/O. Misunderstandings do not warrant immediate personal attacks. -- Mike Haertel "He's a tie with the ambition to become a full-blown suit." -- Jon Westbrock
