I have been attempting to use 2 different programs, unsuccessfully. I found out about these 2 programs (U16.exe and Compress.exe (from comprs16.arc @ simtel20) via a document @ ux1.cso.uiuc.edu called compression.new, which lays out most of the current compression methods, specifying the compression method name, the compression extension (e.g., .zip, .arc, .Z, etc.), the programs that are used to create files with that compression method (and uncompress those files), and where those compression utility programs can be found on internet. While this document seems comprehensive and helpful (I highly recommend it) it isn't helping me figure out what's going wrong as I try to use U16.exe and Compress.exe. For all I know, I am simply missing 1 parameter (e.g. -x, -i, or something like that) when I execute the program(s). If someone has successfully converted .Z format files so that they can be used on an IBM AT, (which is what I have), PLEASE HELP ME. Thanks in advance! Eric S.
