This is true if you're talking about HP's postscript cartridge that works on IIP/IID/III/IIID printers. The Adobe PS cartridge for the series II does do switching between PS and PCL like the pacific page cartridge or through a TSR called Printer Control Panel (PCPANEL for short) which can autodetect PS or PCL jobs going through whatever port it's sensing. Clarification: The Adobe PS cartridge and the HP PS cartridge do not compete against each other. If you have a series II printer, its the Adobe cartridge, if it's a newer printer, you have to use the HP cartridge (well, if you really want true postscript in a cartridge :-).
