A Sun ("Soaf1") and a '386 running SCO Xenix 2.3.2 ("oss753") are involved. oss753 is designated "mailhost" in Soaf1's sendmail.cf; oss753 has a UUCP link to the outside world. Mail coming into Soaf1 from the outside (UUCP) world has a Return-Path: header like this: Return-Path: However, the Fron: header is: From: system2!user@oss753 In other words, "system1!" is being chopped off the front of the address. When replying to such messages, they are sent off to "system2!user@oss753". Since oss753 only knows about the outside UUCP world through its UUCP link to "system1" the message never gets any further that oss753. Question(s) is/are: Is Soaf1 rewriting headers incorrectly? What is the sendmail.cf rule to force oss753 to bounce everything it can't deliver to "system1" (the UUCP link)? Which sendmail.cf gets fixed, and how? (I'll be glad to e-mail copies of the two sendmail.cf's to anyone who wants to help, but don't want to post them.) Thanks. -- UUCP: {rutgers|ames|uunet}!mimsy!woodb!fallst!tkevans INTERNET: tkevans%fallst@wb3ffv.ampr.org Tim Evans 2201 Brookhaven Ct, Fallston, MD 21047
