Keywords: uucp 9600Bps Message-ID: <1991Feb7.212421.23145@iclswe.icl.se> Date: 7 Feb 91 21:24:21 GMT Organization: ICL Data AB 194 85 Upplands Vasby Sweden Lines: 31 Recently I posted a request for info on the uucp trace format ( uucico -x9 ) to this newsgroup. Since I now got my 9600 modem working I thought I tell you all how. After I connected my 9600Bps modem to my unix system and dialed in to my Newsfeed I realised that it did not work very well. I got 3 files off the Backbone and then it fell over with FAILURE IN INPUT/SLAVE MODE. I read the exelent article posted recently on the UUCP protocol ( originally by MR Chesson and others ) but it could not explain the sudden loss of connection with resulting uucp alarms that I was experiencing. What saved me was Tim Endres remark about the nesseity to ensure that all XON/XOFF flow control had to be disabled, that it in fact insted was nessesary to use RTS/CTS flowcontrol between the DTE/DCE since uucp g protocol handles all other flow-control / error correction nessesary. What surprises me now is that 2400 Bps does'nt seem to care less wheter XON/XOFF is disabled or not. I suppose it is unlikley that any buffers gets filled at 2400 Bps. Its been really useful to read this group the last couple of weeks, I will continue to do so.
