  Regarding HiDOS.sys...

  Things have a tendency of staying around during a warm boot, especially 
protected memory applications, which is probably the case for extended
memory drivers. The best thing to do whenever rebooting the machine, is
to hit the reset switch; that way you know everything is out. I don't
have DR DOS 5.0, but this is probably the cause.
