I have no problems with network drives that I mount. They are available in all windows and perform well. The problem occurs whenever I try to start a telnet session in a DesqView window. Everything works fine outside of DesqView. I have tried to isolate the problem by following the procedures given in the DesqView and QEMM manuals for starting with a "pure" system, and this is what I have come up with. I set the protection level to 3 in the DV window from which I launch telbin.exe. When telbin starts, the first line appears at the top of the screen CUTCP/CUTE 2.2D/NFS-A, reading configuration file.... and then QEMM reports a protection violation caused by telbin trying to write to the segment of memory occupied by pcnfs.sys. At this point I have the options Abort, Unprotect or Continue. If I Unprotect, then telbin continues and the following message appears briefly - netlisten: socket: not enough core and then telbin issues the message that it timed out while trying to open a tcp connection and returns the DOS prompt. If I answer Continue, I keep getting the same type violation about 12-15 times before I get the same result as Unprotect. I assume that the problem I am having has something to do with the interaction between telbin and pcnfs.sys. I haven't tried as vigorously to debug the problem I was having with Sun's telnet, but I get a similar protection violation before the machine locks up. Anyone have any ideas on how to run a telnet session under DesqView/386 with PC-NFS? I have also tried loading a second packet driver in the telnet window, but that generates a protection violation at the memory address corre- sponding to the shared memory address used by the ethernet card. I do exclude the shared memory region from QEMM's control in config.sys. My hardware/software is as follows: Zenith 386/25 with 6MB RAM, DOS 3.3+, 3C0M 3C503 ethernet card, PC-NFS 3.0.1p1, QEMM 5.0, DesqView 2.26 and the Clarkson version of NCSA hacked for PC-NFS, ver 2.2D/NFS-A.
