Sending Binarys 1. I have heard second hand that the ftp site 128.184.12.XX, where XX is found to be normaly 50. { Login: anonymous Password: ident or Login: ANONYMOUS Password: IDENT } Will be closed in universal time (date -u) From Fri Jan 25 09:00:00 GMT 1991 to Sun Jan 27 22:00:00 GMT 1991 Ftp sites time From Fri Jan 25 20:00:00 EST 1991 To Mon Jan 28 9:00:00 EST 1991 2. Viruses & C & other arm code I have not heard about any viruses for the archimedes, but what i would like to discuss is stopping them. Things I feel that can be done to stop them. 1 C If acorn was to introduce into it's next release 3.?? a function to do a chksum and length check on C compiled code, then the c programme could put this function into his/her programme at a random place or something. 2 Same for modules in compiled by C. 3 I any one who right's any arm code should check it's file length as when any code is started argc[0] points to the path of the file allowing this. ( some might like to write a bit of code to emulate argc[0]) Let's have a discussion on this any work out the best way to stop Viruses. Is this correct that a viruse must appear in module area, or application area, and if not where in memory. 3. Sending Binary's I would like to see when the new group starts using TextToFile and FileToText to send binaries as it is writen in basic V and every one who has a Archimedes has Basic V. I would also like to see some one else write a Basic V compress. This would mean that absolutely no-one would miss out on any binaries. Current time : Thu Jan 24 23:00:00 GMT 1991 I do not own an Archimedes or any other computer, but do own the Risc OS Prog. Ref. Man. Wish list A260 & C.
