Which is probobly what most people do. The purpose of the trashcan is to provide a special directory on each disk where you can put files that you think you MIGHT want to delete, or that you no longer need. If you are SURE you don't need a file, you can just use the discard (or "delete" as it is called under 2.0) menu item, and save yourself the extra step of selecting and emptying the trash. But if you just want to get rid of a file, or get rid of a bunch at once, in a safe way (how many times have you used a wildcard to delete a group of files under AmigaDOS or Unix and relized too late that you removed a couple other files as well?), the trashcan works nicely. You can just leave it alone and empty the trash when the disk starts to fill up or you have verified you don't want any of the files. Dave
