The Amiga crashes more specular then the IBM(Lockup), Mac/ST > (bombs), so people take notice. I think there's a lot of truth in that. Multifinder on a Mac seems to lend itself to bugs and crashes too much. I just installed Windows 3 as well and I've been getting quite a few crashes on that. What worries me about Multifinder is that it will crash with software that is known to be good when not running multifinder.
