Well, you're right, I *am* grinning. On one of the walls you see a sign that says "TURN BACK". Think of all the different ways you can do that. You can turn around and go the way you came, you can walk backwards, (looking over your shoulder occasionally), or you go back the way you came, walking backwards -- in addition to walking normally. If it will help you, do the Hansel & Gretel bit again, and drop things at every corner. The next time you round a corner, you will see that they've disappeared -- no they haven't, you've only been transported to another room. The "see through walls" spell might help you figure things out. This is a very frustrating part of the dungeon, and I never did figure it out completely.
