Message-ID: <1991Feb7.194539.14077@nntp-server.caltech.edu> Date: 7 Feb 91 19:45:39 GMT Organization: California Institute of Technology, Pasadena Lines: 16 how do i raise the cpu speed on my 286 12mhz anyway? the computer contains a 48mhz crystal, which i presume is divided my four then sent to the 286, which is an amd 286-12. would it be dumb just to un solder the crystal, find a random 64 mhz crystal, maybe from a radio, and solder it in? where can i find a proper computer type crystal? I have not soldered on fancy dense 4 layer boards before, and i presume i should not use my 120 watt soldering gun. i would be interested in any hints for soldering on such boards. i am interested in both recommendations of methods of increasing the cpu speed and recommendations (hopefully with reasons) not to modify it. please respond via email. gwoho liu.
