Suppose shapes (or letters) are required to be entered into the
computer by drawing them, for example, via a graphics tablet.

Is there such a tablet which shows the shape?  Maybe I could put a sheet of
paper on top of it, but that would be too awkward.

Should I use a light pen instead?  I think this would reduce the resolution
of the image.

What should I look for in a graphics tablet?

I'll a post a summary.
