The program bombed inexplicably twice. The salesman said it must have run out of memory, although we only had two windows open and we were running on a 4 Megabyte 386 machine. Exceed won't open multiple local DOS sessions. The salesman said we would need a multitasking DOS, and there was no such thing, which is bull. Call Quarterdeck and get some info on DESQview/X (213-392-9851). The major drawback right now is that they aren't quite shipping it yet, but I plan on waiting for it and at least check it out before plunking many hundreds of dollars on another product. The DESQview/X end user product includes an "X server, window manager and several graphical utilities such as an application manager" (quoted from their Technical Overview brochure). OSF/Motif and Open Look window managers will be available. Quarterdeck was planning to ship first quarter '91, but it looks to me like it will be at least 2nd quarter. Probably worth the wait. -- Lee E. Brotzman Internet: brotzman@nssdca.gsfc.nasa.gov -- ST Systems Corp.
