Sounds to me like perhaps the lack of 12V input to the controller is hosing you over. You can solve this problem without having to get a new controller, I'm sure. I'd tell you how right now, but I'm at college, and my specs on the catridge port are at home (240 miles away). Perhaps someone else out there on the net could inform us of which pin on the controller to inject +12V into, so that the older controller will work on the CoCo III....
