Bizarre problems with my Mac Message-ID: <1991Feb6.071638.24072@agate.berkeley.edu> Date: 6 Feb 91 07:16:38 GMT Sender: usenet@agate.berkeley.edu (USENET Administrator) Distribution: usa Organization: ucb Lines: 50 Lately I've been having problems with my Mac. There were some crashes and some annoying problems. Ok, I'll just try really hard to describe the problems, hope you can help me. 1) Quite frequently, the BOMB would appear with the message: "Finder on this disk is damgaed or missing" 2) When I use GetInfo and some other commands this message appears: "Not enough memory to do this command" 3) When I try to open some file or folder, this leaped out: "Out of finder memory" Ok, for problem 2 & 3, usually I had no problem when I tried it the second time. 4) Sometimes the screen mysteriously redrew itself. Whatever modification I made moments ago would be of no effect. Oh, yeah, and after the redraw, some files I put in a folder would appear far away at either the upper-righthand corner or the lower-right one. When I say "far" I mean about two or three window sizes away. 5) Finder gone, (using MultiFinder), but returned after I quit all the applications. These were the most annoying problems among some other crashes which I really can't remember how they happened. BTW, I have a Mac IIci with 8meg RAM, 80 meg HD. I suspected some sort of virus present, but found none after I ran all the virus programs I possessed. If you need the list of all of my inits and cdevs, I'd e-mail them to you. I don't remember the list right off my head. Anyways, so far I don't have any data lost yet, but I am quite paranoid about losing some in the future, so if you have ANY idea what is happening, please reply via e-mail. Sorry about the length. Thanx in advance. G'day, ...b.o.b...
