He has a Sun Sparc workstation with a Gaterbox (Ethernet to Appletalk) converter. I am running a Mac SE/30 and we are connected with phoneNET adapters. The problem: I cannot figure out how to connect to him with TeleNET 2.3. I am able to enter his internet code and when I select Open Connection, it says that it cannot find him. I am, however, able to access his hard disk over Tops, so I know that we are connected. He has configured his Gaterbox, but he isn't familiar with the Macintosh environment. Does anyone have any ideas of how I can connect to him? I am quite certain the the problem is at my end of the network. I am quite unfamiliar with TeleNET and the Unix environment. I would like to work on his Unix machine, though, to learn it. Thank you in advance for any help. David M. Manning University of Massachusetts (413) 549-2804
