Subject: slow file transfers over fastpath?

The department I work in just had a fastpath box attached to its
appletalk network. I have done some anonymous ftp using the BYU
modified NCSA Telnet program and the file transfers are approx.
4 times slower than when I initiate the ftp session from
the university's VAX (50kb/min vs 200kb/min), even at night when
I'm the only one on our appletalk network.  Is something not
configured properly or is this the expected performance of a
fastpath box? Thanks for your help.
