In article <1991Feb6.032556.9122@tss.com> you write: >I tried the Orchid Fax modem which comes with BackFax from >Solutions, Inc. and sent it back because the BackFax software >was so bad. Then I bought DoveFax, which comes with its own >proprietary software. Their software was not just better, it >was delightful. Night and day. The modem hardware seems fine, >too. No streaks in the received faxes like I often had on >the Orchid fax, even on calls from across the street. > >Also, soon the DoveFax will be available with a $100 upgrade >that's supposed to do voicemail of some sort. Sounds interesting, >and I bet the software will be pretty good. > > --dave yost Does the DoveFax mentioned have both send/receive functions? At what baud rate? Also, when you use it, what has to be turned on? e.g. Do I have to leave both the Fax modem *and* my mac on all night if I'm expecting a fax? If so, is there a way that I only need to leave the Fax on and it would either alert me (through beeping) or wakes up my Mac (with appropriate hardware) for incoming faxes? And one final query (phew!), Do you need a dedicated phoneline? How does it work with a phone? Questions, questions, questions...:) Thanks, Norton Please e-mail me back if possible
