The stack is copyright 1987 by Dennis C. DeMars. This stack includes a good tutorial about speech (phonemes, etc) as well as numerous XCMDS that use the Macintalk driver. Well, I recently noticed that the copy of Macintalk I had no longer worked. Someone sent me the latest, version 2.0. Included with it was an XCMD called 'macintalksay'. I can use Macintalk fine via this XCMD. But none of the XCMDS in Mr. DeMars' stack work any more. Also, the stack got rather screwed up when I converted it to 2.0 (fields and buttons moved out of their correct places). Does anyone know if there is a more recent version of the HyperMacintalk stack? Or has anyone written XCMDS to work with the new Macintalk driver? Specifically, Mr. DeMars provided an XCMD called 'SayPhonetic' that spoke phonemes. I need this capability. Also, I am not much of a hacker, but is there some way to change the name of that 'macintalksay' XCMD to just 'say'? 'macintalksay' is a little L O N G for my tastes... Can I do this with ResEdit somehow? Thanks in advance. *********************************************************************** Robin Goldstone, California State University, Chico Computing Services rgoldstone@oavax.csuchico.edu
