Can a DA close itself? How?

What I am doing is writing Yet Another Launch Pad Application Application 
(YALPAA) that is a DA. There is no user interaction(no windows or menu bar),
just select the DA and the app is launched. So how do I "close" the DA?
(How about launch with no return?)

Please don't flame me for this, it is one of those rare instances where I'm
doing as I am asked.
